Meet Jacque Maegert

midday show Host

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Bakersfield, California.

Can you tell us about your family?

I have a huge wonderful family I'm so blessed to be a part of.  To make things even more exciting, my husband Dave and I are also proud to be adding a new member soon, our little boy!

My husband, Dave, is Swiss. We live 6 months in California, and 6 months in Switzerland! He's a professional drummer who's done everything from Gospel projects to Musicals to Pop and Worship. Future projects he's working on include Sr. Joe & the Soul Mates (new band), Chris Hess (solo artist), and Tinu Schweizerhof (worship).

How did you come to know the Lord?

I officially accepted Jesus into my life at the ripe age of 5, lying in bed with my Mom and Gran.  I grew up in a Christian home going to church and being very active in my youth group.  However, Jr. High was a huge turning point in my relationship with God, as I believe that's when I really grasped the reality of being a daughter of Christ.  High school and college had its ups and downs and I definitely stumbled and fell flat on my face at God's feet, but as I matured and refocused, I fell in love with Him in ways I never thought I would.  I firmly believe life challenges us to our core, but at the top of each mountain is a new affirmation of God's amazing and perfect love.

What are some of your favorite things to do?

Beach volleyball - hands down!  There's just nothing like Pismo sand in the toes and a leather ball in my hands.  Other than that, I love playing with my dog and soaking in all the alone time I can get with my hubby and - soon - our little one!

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

"A"? Oh, I have a few! Phil. 4:13 was a staple for me in high school through college as I'm sure it is for many athletes. My high school volleyball team had it written on our shoes our whole senior season! I also rely on Eph. 6:13-20 to keep me protected and standing strong against the devil's schemes. Prov. 3:5-6 is engraved in mine and my husband's wedding rings to keep our focus on God's plan for us individually, as a couple, and now as parents. And lastly, Numbers 6:24-26, one of my favorite blessings to pray over someone.

How about a favorite band or artist?

I'm a sucker for alternative/rock which puts Flyleaf, Red, and TFK at the top of my list. But as the years go on, I find a lot more Tenth Avenue North, John Mayer, and Switchfoot in my playlist.

Do you have a favorite book?

My Gran gave me a copy of  My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers a few years ago and I still rave about it to all my youth kids as well as continue to use it as a daily devotional today. I also recently read Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala which revolutionized my prayer life. Otherwise, I'm much more a music listener than reader, hence my love for K-LIFE! (Shameless plug... I know...)

Anything else you'd like us to know?

I'm so excited to be a part of the K-LIFE team! It truly is an amazing blessing and a passion I never dreamed God would lay in my path. Yay!
