World Water Awareness Day on March 22, 2012. Most of us tend to take clean, fresh water for granted but we must not forget others that do not have this resource. Did you know that:
- Every 15 seconds, a child dies from water-related diseases. (UN)
- Every day, more than 4,000 children die of easily preventable water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid. (UNICEF)
- Each year, 3.3 million people die from contaminated water.
On average, 1.1 billion people (approx. 1 in 7 people in the entire world) do not have access to safe water.
